This lab is provided with equipments to perform the experiments of Vibrations such as to determine the natural frequency of undamped free vibrations, damped vibrations, torsional vibrations of single rotor system and double pendulum system. Students also study the forced vibrations.
Some more equipments such as Three Rotor Torsional System, Coupled Pitching and Bouncing Motion Machine are being procured.

MEASUREMENT LAB

It is meant to impart basic knowledge of different sensors used for mechanical measurements. In this lab the linear displacement measurement is demonstrated by LVDT, Inductive Pick up Strain Gauge based cantilever,the load measurement by load cell and strain gauge based cantilever  and the temperature measurement by RTD Thermistor and Thrmocouple.

THERMAL ENGINEERING LAB

The lab consists of IC Engine, Steam Power and Automobile Section. The IC Engine section has a large number of models, cut sections and experimental setups to make the students conversant with actual engines and measurement of their performance.

The Steam Power section has a Nestler Boiler, Steam Turbine and Vertical Steam Engine. The lab has a number of boiler models and cut sections of various devices.


REFRIGERATION & AIRCONDITIONING LAB

This lab is equipped to perform the experiments including the performance and study of basic components used in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning. The equipments include Refrigeration Test Rig, Water Cooler, Walk in Cooler, Simple Vapour Compression System, Domestic Refrigerator, Ice Plant, Cooling Tower, Vapour Absorption Refrigeration System, Blower Test Rig, Air Conditioner and Cut Sections of different components.

 

HYDRAULIC MACHINE LAB

      It has a wide range of equipments such as

Introduction

Computer & Automation is established to cater to the computational needs of B. Tech., M.Tech. & research  students of Mechanical Engineering Department. Students visit this centre for, honing their skills in C, mastering Computer Aided Design software, computing numerical solutions and  for their dissertation & project works.   All systems are placed on LAN and are provided with Internet connectivity.

ENERGY LAB

Conservation of energy and exploiting the non-conventional sources of energy has gained important dimensions in present time. The energy lab was set up in the Mechanical Engineering Department with the purpose to study various means for conservation of energy and explore the different non-conventional sources of energy. The lab has various instruments to measure solar radiation. It is equipped with instruments to evaluate the performance of PV Cells. Research work at PG & Ph.D. level can be undertaken in the field of energy conservation.

MACHINE VISION LAB

Machine vision lab is equipped with

Matrox Genesis PCI image processor :

It is a unique design using the Texas Instrument's TM320C80 DSP board. It has integrated all of the leading technology on to a single board. Matrox offers the most comphrensive image processing software abailable for C80 based board.

Matrox provides tools to program the Matrox Genesis at three different  levels.
