Prof. Anand Mohan joined as the Director of National Institute of Technology (NIT), Kurukshetra on 3rd June, 2011. Prior to his present assignment, he was Professor of Electronics Engineering at Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University where he has held as several important administrative positions namely Member of Executive Council, Head of the Department of Electronics Engineering, Coordinator, Centre for Research in Microprocessor Applications (established by MHRD), and Incharge, University Science Instrumentation Centre. Prof. Mohan has 35 years rich experience of serving both academia and industry in various capacities. Besides this, he has been Member of several apex administrative bodies like Executive Council / Governing Council / University Court of JNU, New Delhi, Mizoram University, Aizawl, HBTI, Kanpur, IET, Lucknow, Visitor’s nominee of IGNOU, and Chancellor’s nominee of Rajasthan Technical University, Kota. Besides these additional assignments, he is Member of Research Advisory Committee of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMs), New Delhi and also served for 7 years as Chairman of Armament Sensors & Electronics (ASE) Panel under ARMREB, DRDO, Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India. Prof. Mohan has been associated with several important academic and research advisory committees of DST, UGC, CSIR, and AICTE.
Prof. Mohan obtained Ph. D., PG, and UG degrees in Electronics Engineering from Banaras Hindu University in 1994, 1977, and 1973 respectively. He has made notable contributions to the academic and research development in Electronics Engineering at Banaras Hindu University by creating dedicated research groups of eminent academic experts from the country and abroad. He conducted high quality research in the emerging areas like fault tolerant / survivable system design, information security, and embedded systems involving UG, PG, and Ph. D. students. Prof. Mohan established state-of-the-art research facilities for PG and Research in these areas. In addition, he has made significant contributions to national level research promotion through R & D activities in the area of ‘Armament Sensors and Electronics’ as Chairman of ASE Panel of DRDO. Academic and research contributions of Prof. Mohan are internationally / nationally acknowledged. He has active research collaboration with University of Louisiana, USA, Multimedia University, Malaysia, and Kathmandu University, Nepal to name a few. Prof. Mohan has chaired technical sessions at many international and national conferences / seminars held in the country and abroad. He has visited USA, Canada, UK, Dubai, and Nepal for various academic and research interactions. Prof. Mohan has published over 109 research papers in reputed international / national journals and conference proceedings; and supervised large number of Ph. D. theses. He is reviewer of IEEE Transactions on Computer (USA), Journal of Computer and Information Science (Canada), International Journal of Advancements in Computing Technology (Korea), and ET Journal of Institution of Engineers, (India). His research papers have merited awards of International Union of Radio Science (Belgium), Institution of Engineers (India), and Indian Science Congress. His areas of current research interest are information security, fault tolerant design, and programmable logic devices.
