Centre of Computing and Networking (CCN) is a central facility, established in 1997 which caters to the needs of academic departments and various sections of the institute. CCN is housed in a separate building. Centre has one of the best infrastructures in the region in terms of computing facilities, Internet facilities and Campus Wide Networking. Centre is well equipped with the latest machines viz. Sun Servers, Pentium machines (P-IV, core2Duo and AMD), etc. A heterogeneous Intranet Network of around 1100 nodes under different OS like Sun Solaris, Linux, Windows and Novell Netware is setup and maintained by the CCN. Centre has dedicated 2 Mbps leased line from BSNL and 8 Mbps leased line from Reliance Communication. Installation of 8Mbps leased line circuit from Reliance communications is underway. It provides Internet facilities to the users in the CCN (round the clock), all departments, Central Library, faculty rooms and offices. The same facility has also been extended to student hostels, Guest House, Sports Complex, Health center etc. Process of providing facility in the rooms of students, faculty and staff residences through optical fiber backbone and managed wireless has been initiated.
The mission of Compute Centre is to create and maintain a computing environment for the pursuit of academic excellence and quality management; to provide quality professional services to students, staff and administration; to promote and assist the use of new computing technology; to ensure effective use of computing resources; to co-operate with Computer Centres of other institutions of higher education and professional bodies and to render professional services in response to the need of society and community. Computer Centre of NIT Kurukshetra aspires to be a leading computational facility in higher education.
To facilitate the use of the latest information technology in institute's teaching, learning, research and administration; to provide an excellent network environment that facilitates the access and exchange of information; to put innovation in technology transfer to assist the institute in its mission; to enable faculty, staff and students to use the computer and network resources effectively and efficiently; and to aim to provide the best quality IT services in the region, the Computer Centre at NIT Kurukshetra continued to re-engineer the process of its service operations for increased productivity and better quality.
